Psychic Scam

Dear Ruth,

I recently received a letter from a psychic in a foreign country who said she wanted to change my destiny from one of poor fortune to a higher financial level. In this day of ID Theft I was not as eager to believe that she had picked my name at random from all the names in the United States. She said there would be no fee but the last paragraph said how much she'd spent already - and any financial gift would be appreciated. What do you think?

Wondering

Dear Wondering,

Pay attention to what you're feeling. A stranger has told you bad luck is ahead unless you do what she/he tells you to do.

This scam has been around for decades. Be aware of the words he uses to frighten you; urgent... bad luck... important... take action immediately or something terrible will befall you... something financially or personally will happen to you in the next few weeks unless you do something important NOW!

Do not send money, or give any more information to this person. Use your common sense and intelligence. A person, you've never met, has contacted you to warn you of an upcoming calamity. Be careful.

Ruth
